Seth Berkowitz - Trained as an architect and landscape architect, I have spent a
significant amount of time observing, studying, and designing the built and
natural environments that surround us. Throughout this process I have
developed drawing and painting skills crafted to these professions. Over
time I have developed and evolved these skills into an art. For me this
process requires a balance between expressing what I consciously see and
experience, with what I instinctively and emotionally feel, sense, and
imagine. These two qualities are revealed in my paintings through the
literal use of existing objects and forms, but expressing them in an
atmosphere, composition, and gestural quality that give the paintings an
abstract realism.
