Cidalia Nerenberg
Bio for Website: Cid immigrated to the United States from Sao Miguel, Azores when she was five years old. She started sketching at an early age, but it wasn’t until her adult years that she developed a love for oil painting. Although primarily self-taught, she has taken numerous plein air and studio lessons through various art associations. Her methods are traditional and mostly realistic, paying close attention to values and perspective. Her inspiration comes from just about anything: looking-up and seeing how light filters down through the million leaves of a maple tree. Or perhaps, it’s a bowl of spicy peppers, each unique, and yet together an arrangement of colors that evoke a festive time. She paints what moves her!
Materials and Techniques: All my oil paintings are done on stretched canvas, linen and cotton duck. The methods I use are traditional, building layers, and following the rule of “fat over lean”.
