Garima Parakh
Bio for Website: Garima draws inspiration from New England's changing seasons and landscapes. Her preferred medium is oils. She specializes in painting New England marshes, trails, historic buildings and still life. She prefers to paint from direct observation, bringing a sense of immediacy and vibrancy to her work. Born and raised in India, Garima now resides in Andover, Massachusetts. After a successful 13-year career in the IT industry, she embraced her passion for art, dedicating herself fully to her creative journey.
Materials and Techniques: My goal is to create beautifully composed paintings that balance color, shape, and texture while staying true to the moment. I enjoy painting en plein air, on location. Often, the scene in front of me is constantly changing—sometimes, nature shifts before my eyes, just as I make a stroke. I hope to capture these moments on canvas and connect the viewer to the emotions they evoke.
I love the buttery consistency of oil paints. My technique involves working in a single sitting (Alla-prima or wet-in-wet) and using energetic brushstrokes to express my emotions. My daily practice of painting smaller works helps me learn, experiment, and grow as an artist.
